Abstract

This study develops a comprehensive integrated assessment model for the water-energy-food nexus in urban agricultural systems. Applied to three rapidly growing cities in Africa and Southeast Asia, the model quantifies trade-offs and synergies to support evidence-based urban food policy.

Introduction

Rapid urbanization creates interconnected challenges for water, energy, and food systems. Urban agriculture offers a potential solution but requires careful planning to balance resource demands. This study presents an integrated modeling framework to support evidence-based decision-making for urban food systems.
